I have scheduled another 4.5 miles this afternoon along with a go at it on the stair machine. I'm still trying to add some work on the stair machine after my runs to burn a few more calories and some variety. After 4.5 miles yesterday afternoon I was able to log in 11 minutes on the stair machine. I'm going to try to build up to 15 or 20 minutes.

I'm using what I would call an old school stair machine, not an eliptical. I seem to feel like I get a much better work out on the old school type.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-47017763893681526702009-04-08T20:02:00.002-05:002009-04-08T20:09:32.006-05:00Treadmill and the stairsI really hate going to the gym this time of year, but I have been really lazy about getting up early and running on the road. This time of the year when it is about 75 they don't run the AC, so its about 78 degrees in there and like a sauna.

I did 4 miles on the treadmill and then got on the stair machine and did another 8 minutes. I was going to first only do 7 mins but pushed myself for one more minute. At the end I almost puked, so it must have been a good workout.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-564970743941562762009-04-08T07:49:00.002-05:002009-04-08T07:51:38.690-05:00I've been a little lazy posting the past few days, but I'm still plodding along. I drank a bottle of lipton green tea at 4:00 and got on the treadmill about 5:00pm. At about mile 2 I started feeling weak, not tired but all of the sudden drained. I could barely make it to 2.5 miles and had to stop. I don't know if it was something in the green tea but by the time I got to my truck I was almost to the point of shaking I was so weak. I stopped at a gas station and got me a drink and some peanuts and that seemed to make me feel better.

The last time I felt like this was the one and only time I drank a Red Bull last summer. After about a half an hour I was feeling weak and started to sweat so bad my T shirt was soaked. No more energy drinks for me thank you.

Went for a 3 miler again on the treadmill Friday and did just fine. I'm going to try 4 miles this afternoon.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-20712738916705067912009-03-23T12:44:00.001-05:002009-03-23T12:47:45.267-05:00A little lazyI have been a little lazy the past 2 weeks and have not ran more than a couple of times, just 2 miles each. I got in a little bit of a rut, probably a little from my frustration from injuries. It is also very easy after missing a few days, just to say....well I will get back into it tomorrow. Tomorrow I say the same thing.

So this afternoon I will go out for a 3 miler.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-23821159738541498982009-03-16T07:05:00.003-05:002009-03-16T07:10:19.141-05:00Out for an easy 3 miler yesterday and all body parts appear to be in working order.

I'll try a couple of more 4 milers, and then Friday or Saturday go for 5. Went a podiatrist and I explained the problems with my toe. Seems like the issue is that the last joint in the toe is stiff and when my foot hits the ground it does not straighten out fully so the tip of my toe is hitting the ground. Kind of like hammer toe, but not as severe. He gave me this support to wear under my toes while I run.

Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-40956494353011275242009-03-08T08:40:00.004-05:002009-03-09T11:16:35.041-05:00Tried to go for a 3 miler yesterday, but now my ankle has started to be a real pain. Right where my leg meets the top of my food. Not sure what it is,but I had to take walking breaks to ease the pain. So I'm going to lay off again for awhile, the idea of a half marathon in April is Kaputz

I'm pretty fortunate as I really have not had a running injury in like forever, but I also have not tried to push myself as much in the last 18 months. So I will take it easy for while and reboot. I also need to step back and try to determine a training plan that has more than running.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-50614209943148556992009-03-03T19:36:00.001-06:002009-03-03T19:37:33.514-06:005 Miles this evening. My leg feels pretty good, however I could tell I have lost some conditioning laying off the previous week. Weird weather here as it was 65 degrees last Monday and we had up to 15" of snow in some places this last Saturday night. No problems to speak of with my calf. It seemed to get a little tight later on after I was back at the house after an hour, but a little stretching fixed that.

5 Miles tomorrow.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-25334021084740877562009-02-19T18:46:00.002-06:002009-02-19T18:50:38.773-06:00Well......crapRan 7 miles last Thursday and 9 Sunday. I was supposed to run 4 miles this last Tuesday but only went 3 since my left calf muscle was really sore. It still feels sore today so I'm laying off for now.

I may try to go 4 miles tomorrow. I've been pretty lucky for about a year going injury free...maybe I'm just due. I still have 2-1/2 months until the County Music Half, so I'm not too concerned about a small set back.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-1788234089128041312009-02-10T19:39:00.003-06:002009-02-10T19:49:59.606-06:004 miles this pm. Core training started about 3 weeks lated than I wanted, but its a start...more details later.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-70272859941679694602009-02-03T20:18:00.003-06:002009-02-03T20:27:38.840-06:005.0Last week was a dissapoint as far as my running goes. I ran Tues and Thursday and was scheduled for 4 miles Sat and 5 Miles Sunday. I spoke to my parents Satuday and they were looking for an new generator. If you live in the U.S. and have heard of the ice storm that went through portions of the South, you know several hundred thousand folks are stil without power.

I found a generator at a town near me and drove it over to their place Saturday night, so no run on that day. Then spent about 5 hours with a chainsaw cutting all the limbs that fell in their yard on Sunday. No run, but I guess the cutting could be considered weight training. I had some illusion that when I got home at about 5:00 I would be able to run, but my back was really sore and I was exhausted. My drive home took about 2 hours and I saw hundreds of power poles that were either broke off halfway down the pole, or just leaning at about 45 degrees. I heard in my parents county there were approximately 3000 poles needing replacing. The ice storm came through last Wednesday night and my folks and alot of others still do not have power. They had 1-1/2 inches of ice on everything.

5 miles today and hopefully can get back into a groove as far as training goes.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-53289830285050217412009-01-30T07:24:00.001-06:002009-01-30T07:25:50.565-06:004.0/5.0Its cold and icy here so the past 2 workouts of 4 and 5 miles have been on the treadmill. The treadmill is a nice change of pace from time to time. What I really like about it is that unless I slow the pace down on the machine, I have to keep up and cant slack off.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-33971540165862508172009-01-26T07:23:00.002-06:002009-01-26T07:32:03.232-06:00Brrr III was supposed to run 5 miles Saturday but I took the advise from my calves and laid off. They have been sore the past couple of weeks off and on and since 9 miles was scheduled for Sunday.....I felt an extra rest day was in order.

Out at 4:30 PM. I started to go at 5:00 AM, but it was 17 degrees with the wind gusty, no thank you. I wore some under armor(UA) leggings with a pair of UA warmups over those. 2 tops with my Steelers cap and gloves. It was about 28 degrees with the wind blowing, but I got a little sweaty the first 4 miles. After I swung around and headed toward my house the wind was in my face and my run really turned into a suck fest. I was wearing a hoody so I pulled the hood over my head and pulled the strings where the only thing you could see was my glasses.

The last 3 miles it had to be 25 degrees with the wind gusting about 10-15 MPH. I ended up at a 11:40 pace which I know can mainly be attributed to the weather. I kept on thinking that in August I will be looking back on this run with envy.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-52895748808973730382009-01-21T07:03:00.006-06:002009-01-21T07:09:13.309-06:00BrrrrI realize people north of my location have it alot colder than I do, but my run this morning at 4:30 was on of my coldest ever at 17 degrees. On days like this I usually change my schedule to run after work, but I have plans tonight and I am bound and determined not to miss a day on my schedule. I probably wore too much on my upper body so now I know what is the right combination for todays conditions. The good thing about it was that there was no wind at all.

Even though it was cold I am very satisfied with myself for dragging out of bed and running. I feel great right now.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-75764238293270498592009-01-19T07:13:00.002-06:002009-01-19T07:16:19.540-06:004 Miles Saturday and another 8 Sunday afternoon.

Sundays run was a little strange. My usual path is gradually downhill for 4 miles and then I turnaround. I really seemed to be dragging on the way out but back I started feeling better and seemed to be at a higher energy level going back up. My pace was not faster since I was going up some long hills, but I had alot more energy. Even though I was a little slower overall yesterday, it was a good run.Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32825790.post-26020210527188957512009-01-16T12:09:00.003-06:002009-01-16T12:16:09.882-06:00
5 miles both Tuesday and Thursday. Went 8 miles just under 1:30, which is ok for me for now. I just took it nice and easy and felt great at the end of the run.

I have many more miles to go and don't feel like pushing myself too hard. I' m going to start my core training today too.

I'm pretty good at excel, powerpoint, and acess at work but don't know much about web pages. Can anyone give me a tip as to how I can make my blog margins wider?

Thanks,Adamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797856796060384198noreply@blogger.com1
